Expect changes in the Extra Bula FC line-up when they face South Melbourne FC in tomorrow night’s OFC Pro League clash at Govind Park in Ba.
This was the gist of Bula FC head coach Stephane Auvray’s interview with SUNsports following their 1-0 win over Papua New Guinea’s Hekari FC on Sunday night.
Auvray said his side has to improve their rhythm after long breaks between matches.
“I’m looking for more because I believe the players are in a better shape and much more energetic,” he said.
“Obviously, we had control of the game. There’ll be changes, maybe the line-up, because some players need to rest and some need game time.”
Auvray said he is expecting a much-improved performance against South Melbourne FC.
After a scoreless first half, Bula FC scored the lone goal in the 63rd minute when captain Roy Krishna created space before sliding a through ball to defender Adam Supyk, who fired home the winning goal.
Krishna said he was pleased to deliver a win at home.
“I wanted to give something back — the three points. It’s our first professional game at home and a lot of work has gone into this. The players will be in better shape (for the next game),” he added.
Hekari FC’s Godfrey Haro said poor finishing let them down.
“We had our chances by building up play from the back to the front but poor finishing denied us the opportunity to score goals,” he said.
Meanwhile, South Melbourne FC took Auckland FC to the wire before bowing out 3-2 in a thriller.
For tomorrow’s fixtures, Bula FC faces South Melbourne FC at 7pm, while Auckland FC meets PNG Hekari FC at 3pm.
