No easy teams at B.O.G, says coach

The Navua football team hopes for consistentency in their performance in next month’s Extra Battle of the Giants (B.O.G) tournament at Govind Park, Ba.

This was the gist of Navua head coach Roderick Singh’s interview after the official group draws at Extra Supermarket in Laucala Beach, Suva, yesterday.

The tournament’s group matches will be from September 4-6 while the finals will be on September 12-13.

Navua is included in Group A alongside Labasa, Nasinu and Suva.

Hosts Ba is the top seed for Group B followed by Rewa, Lautoka and Nadi.

Singh said the pools was fairly drawn and they are in a tough group.

“Every team is improving and it’s going to be a tough competition as well,” he said.

“It’s a football tournament and we have to be at our A game.”

Singh has set a target for his team to progress through their group games.

“We are currently focused on the league game against Nasinu and from there we’ll switch mode to B.O.G,” he said.

“The major aim is to be consistent with the way we play in the Fiji Fact tournament.”

Singh added that Navua would need to work on their weaknesses before the B.O.G.

“We’ve look out for all teams because they are the top eight teams in the league. We all have good chances and everyone is gunning for the title.”

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf acknowledged Extra Supermarket for their continued sponsorship of the B.O.G tournament.
