More than 30 players attended the Fiji Under-17 Futsal trials at the Fiji Football Association's Labasa Academy yesterday.
The turnout marks a strong start to the three-day selection programme.
Assistant coach Raj Kumar expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the level of enthusiasm shown by local players.
"We had some good players who showed passion and love for the short-sided game," Kumar told Fiji FA Media.
"It's encouraging to see this level of interest and commitment from the north."
Kumar also urged Ul 7 girls with an interest in futsal to come forward and take part in the trials.
"We encourage more young girls to join the trials and showcase their talent. Futsal is a great platform for development, and this is a good opportunity for them."
The trials are expected to grow stronger over the next two days, with more players anticipated to join as the selection process continues.
Fiji FA is searching for the best futsal talent to form the national squad for the upcoming Olympic Youth Futsal Championship, with selectors closely monitoring technical ability, game awareness, and attitude during the trials.
