“I’m not happy with this game, honestly. It was good until the other team considered a red card then our game management was very poor.”

Extra Bula FC head coach Stephan Auvray was not happy with his side’s first OFC Pro League win yesterday.

He stressed the need for his players to improve their game management.

Bula FC won against Solomon Kings, 1-0, at Santos National Stadium, Port Moresby yesterday.

Nabil Begg scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute with an assist from Setareki Hughes.

“We’re making up for the two previous games where we should have had more points,” Auvray said.

“I’m not happy with this game, honestly. It was good until the other team considered a red card then our game management was very poor.”

Solomon Kings’ Don Keana was shown his second yellow card which was upgraded to red for a foul on Kaile Auvray in the 54th minute.

“We have young players at some positions, new professional players so they are learning.

“They have to learn fast and work on this because the management must get better.”

Auvray praised the effort of Kalie, who played with a centralised position when the attacking formation was changed.

“Big credit to Solomon (Kings), their 4-4- 2 diamond was great and gave us a lot of trouble, so we had to switch our formation,” he said.

“Coming back to Kalie, once he was centrally located, he got to touch the ball more and have more influence.”

Auvray also commended the work rate of captain Roy Krishna alongside Kalie.

“The mentality of the players, before the red card. We had to switch the formation and be strong on defence,” he said.

“We saw very early that it wasn’t going to be beautiful game, but we showed character and at the end of the day we win the game even if I don’t like the last 20 minutes.”

Kalie Auvray was awarded the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

“We got three points. I think that’s all it matters at this point,” Kalie said.

“I think that we fought, we were resilient and I think we played better in our previous games, but we didn’t win.”

Kalie has started in all of Bula FC three matches and contributed 2 assists.

“This time we didn’t play as well, but we won, so you have to take what there is to take from each game,” he said.

Bula FC has ascended to third in the OFC pro league standings with 4 points.
