The Stratum/Fortech Rewa fans can expect some good attacking football at the BiC Fiji FACT tournament at Subrail Park, Labasa, this weekend.

This was the view of assistant coach Priyant Manu during an interview with SUNsports yesterday.

“Our focus is on Navua because it’s our first game, and if we get a good start against them, then we can focus on the matches ahead,” he said.

“It’s the first time in six months that we’re playing together as a team with the Bula FC players.”

The Rewa team took on the Fiji Under-17 side in a friendly match at Ratu Cakobau Park on Sunday in preparation for the tournament.

“Tevita Waranaivalu, Gabriele Matanisiga and Setareki Hughes will be leading the team on the field,” Manu said.

“The message is to play simple football and get a good start in the tournament to build momentum.”

The Delta Tigers’ 3–1 penalty shootout loss to Labasa in last year’s Fiji FACT final is their motivation to regain glory at Subrail Park.

“We go again this year trying to win the tournament,” Manu said.

“It’s been a long time since we last won this tournament, so we will be trying again this year.”

Rewa last won the Fiji FACT tournament in 2018 when they beat Labasa 5–3 in a penalty shootout.

“To the Rewa fans, keep on praying and supporting the boys. If we can get a positive result, then it will set a good platform for the rest of the tournament.”

The Delta Tigers’ squad depth has been boosted by the recent signings of Hekari United midfielder Lucas Santos.

Bula FC youngsters Asivorosi Rabo and Delon Shankar return to the Rewa side for the FACT tournament.

Also joining the squad are former Suva striker Merill Nand and Solomon Kings midfielder Don Keana.

Rewa is in Pool A alongside Labasa, Suva, and Navua.

The tournament kicks-off on Friday at 1pm.
