Konagaya backs team to win OFC Pro League title

Konagaya said he felt a sense of a new challenge which inspired him to join a new club participating in a new competition.

Bula FC lone Japanese player Yuta Konagaya is slowly adapting to the weather and team culture in their preparation for the start of the inaugural OFC pro league season on January 17 at Auckland, New Zealand.

The former Aegious Plomariou midfielder said he was excited to be part of the club historic professional debut.

“I’m trying to understand everyone’s personality and watch their strengths,” Konagaya said.

“I’m still observing and icebreaking.”

Konagaya said he felt a sense of a new challenge which inspired him to join a new club participating in a new competition.

“I have a massive resolution to win the league and I think as a club we should aim for that goal. Every team is a new club except a few clubs in New Zealand and Australia,” he said.

“I know its going to be hard but I’d like to have the mindset or standard of winning that’s why the coach wants me to come here so to win the league is the ultimate goal.”

He added football in Fiji is more physical and direct.

“It was more technical in Greece. I’m trying to adjust the style of playing to Fijian football and it’s been good,” he said.

“I’m so excited to be part of this team as the club just started. I’m so excited top be part of this new challenge and help the team as much as I can.

Konagaya urged the fans to turn up at the matches and support the team in their new journey of professional football.
