Fiji Under-16 football striker Saula Muatini dedicated his two goals against Cook Islands to his grandfather.
Speaking after winning their second group match win in Honiara, Solomon Islands, on Wednesday, the youngster said his grandfather had been sick.
“Also, I dedicate it to my grandmother and sister, as well,” Muatini told OFC Media.
He said the reason behind their 2-1 win over Tahiti and then 5-0 against Cook Islands was due to team-work.
“That is our strength,” Muatini said.
“I thank the boys for giving their 100 per cent as we worked hard for the wins.”
Fiji has become the first team to book their place in the semi-finals of the OFC U16 Men’s Championship.
The result leaves Fiji top of Group A with one match remaining against Papua New Guinea on Saturday.
A draw will be enough to secure first place. The Cook Islands, meanwhile, still have a slim chance of progressing but will need a big win over Tahiti, and hope Fiji defeat PNG convincingly.
Group A results:
Fiji 2-1 Tahiti, PNG 1-1 Cook Islands, Fiji 5-0 Cook Islands, PNG 6-1 Tahiti.
