The Rewa football team is hoping to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Labasa last Saturday.

Dubbed the Delta Tigers, their campaign to defend the Extra Premier League (EPL) title starts with Tailevu/Naitasiri at the National Stadium in Suva tomorrow.

Rewa head coach Priyant Manu said the team has prepared well with very high expectations of finding their winning form against Tailevu/Naitasiri.

“The boys were disappointed with the last-minute loss to Labasa, and we have picked up our training,” Manu said.

He added they have been polishing their transition from defence to attack.

“We know Tailevu/Naitasiri is at the bottom of the table, but they are also looking to gain points, so we’re not taking them lightly. We are fourth on the table so from now onwards, every game is vital for us.”

Manu has reminded his players that they are the defending EPL champions and that should be able to motivate them.

“We have to live-up to our expectations of winning all the games,” he said.

“Our players from the Solomon Islands Calvin Ohasio and Norman Ngafu have left and they will be a big loss for us especially in this game.”

“On the positive side, it gives our youth boys the opportunity to step up when needed, so we need to take things in a positive way.

“The motivation is to climb up the ladder by taking points.”

Manu stressed the need for his team to defend their title.

“Our season so far has some ups and downs, but we’re still in the top four. We still have ways to defend our title.”

He added the presence of their fans at the stadium would definitely motivate his players to play to win.
