“It feels good. We have a lot of young players in our team so I can’t get too friendly, but at the same time, I know they need love, tough love.”

Extra Bula Fc captain Roy Krishna is delighted to be playing back at home and eager to lead Fiji’s first professional club in the historic inaugural Pro league competition.

“This is an opportunity not just for me but for the young generation of Fiji and Oceania boys who want to play professional,” he said.

“It feels good. We have a lot of young players in our team so I can’t get too friendly, but at the same time, I know they need love, tough love.”

Krishna added that the team is all set to play their first match against Vanuatu United tomorrow (today) after two weeks of intensive training.

“Whatever professional experience I gained overseas, I try to tell the younger boys how important discipline is in the professional environment,” he said.

“It’s not babysitting, it’s up to you how much you want it.”

Krishna told his younger teammates the need to follow the diet plans and sleep schedule in a professional football setting.

“It’s just you versus everyone else; you need to perform to be on the field,” he said.

“The boys are learning. The good thing is they do look up to us, and they do listen which is a good thing.”

Krishna urged Fijians to keep the team in their prayers and support them in their official professional football debut.

“This is first time, history in Oceania that there’s a professional league,” he said.

“It’s going to take time for all the clubs to adjust and develop but the future looks great for Oceania football.”

Bula Fc will face Vanuatu United at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand today in the historic opening match of the OFC Pro league competition.
