Handball Fiji women’s youth under 18 head coach Emori Bakewa has urged youths around the country to learn and join their sport.

This is after handball Fiji have begun their club games this year.

Bakewa highlighted that six new clubs have been formed in the U17, U19, men’s and women’s open grade.

“We’re looking forward for more girls and boys to join this sport in future,” Bakewa said.

“It’s growing slowly since its inception.”

Bakewa was certain that Handball will grow and will be in more demand next year with all the respective grades.

“This sport is a combination of netball, volleyball and basketball,” Bakewa said.

“We have already approached some of the rugby players to be part of the men’s team.”

Bakewa added that there were two rugby players in his women’s youth U18 team.

The men’s U17 and U19 team travel to New Zealand in December for the Oceania Championship tournament.
