Prakash claims third consecutive title

Fiji Order of Merit leader Roneel Prakash claimed his third straight Fiji PGA Championship title at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club on Saturday.
Prakash finished four-under par to beat Zoheer Ahmed, who carded two-under par to finish second. Amitesh Chandra placed third on even par.
The Fiji PGA was sponosred by Vuksich and Borich.
“I’ve won tournaments twice before, but this is the first time I’ve won three in a row,” Prakash said.
“It’s a lucky charm for me, so thank you to the sponsors, the men’s and women’s golfers, and my family.”
Vuksich and Borich general manager Fiji, Mladen Matulic, said this year marked the company’s ninth year sponsoring the Fiji PGA Championship.
“Everyone had a great day and we look forward to many more in the years ahead,” he said.
Fiji PGA president Vikrant Chandra said 20 professionals competed in the tournament, including visiting players from Japan.
“This is a big event for us,” he said.
“The PGA is growing step by step through the support of our sponsors and we hope to continue that support throughout the year.
“The PGA has come a long way over the past eight or nine years and we are in a strong position to grow the game even further.”
In the amateur division, Parveer Chand won his first Fiji PGA Championship title after edging Lautoka Golf Club captain James Krishna in a playoff. Chand finished on 75, while Krishna carded 71.
“I promise this is not the last,” Chand said.
In A-grade, Krishna finished first on 71, followed by Asish Chand (74) and Dr Vimal Murti (75).
In B-grade, Ben Hunte won on countback after carding 72, ahead of Paras Ram and Raghu Chaudhry.
In C-grade, Daniel Chandra topped the field with 74, followed by Cardo (76, countback) and Sailesh Singh (76).
In the women’s division, Sulu Brook claimed the overall net title with 67, while Amy Subam won the championship with a score of 78.
Tracey Salthouse won the first net prize with 73, while Bulou Draunidalo claimed the ladies’ net prize with 75.
