Fijiana XVs lock for Jade Coates understands that every nation have their own way of playing rugby.
The New Zealand-based Tailevu native said they would play as Fijians showing what Fiji rugby is known for when they face Scotland in their second Pool B match at 1:45am tomorrow (Fiji time).
Asked by World Rugby Media on coach loan Cunningham bringing some Northern Hemisphere expertise to Fiji, Coates said: "The cool thing about rugby is it's played so differently all around the world; everyone has their own style in the way they coach the game or play the game.
"But we don't want to change who we are, our authentic selves within our team, and how our flair is our super strength.
"It's about balancing what we can bring into it, being a bit smarter in how we can play a good, solid quality 80 minutes and compete against some of those top quality sides.
"Other people might not see it, but when you're in our group, you can see how far we have come as a group. learning differ. ent styles, maybe a bit more of a Northern Hemisphere style of rugby, but we don't want to change who we are as a team."
She added the side as a close-knit group and have gelled well during their Women's Rugby World Cup campaign.
"When we go out there to play, we don't go out there to lose, but playing sport there's always one winning and one not.
But as a team, I think our bond is pretty strong and you have those initial feelings, but afterwards, it's a new week, fresh start and the resilience amongst our group is pretty strong." Meanwhile, Michella'e Brigid Stolz will make her World Cup debut after she was named on the wing with Aloesi Nakoci.
"I'm very grateful to be selected for this week's game after not being selected last week. I've been trying to work harder to get picked. And now, I'm just going to do the best I can for my team. I'm looking forward to it, I'm very excited," Stolz said.
