Politini: First match is always tough

Nadi must improve their set piece before they face neighbours Lautoka in Saturday’s Skipper Cup clash at Churchill Park.
This was the view of McDonald’s Nadi rugby head coach Cohen Politini after their 19-15 win over newcomers Kadavu at King Charles Park last Saturday.
“Our set pieces really need to improve,” Politini said. “That’s one area we want to work on and also being patient. We played on the edge at times, but there are plenty of lessons to take from the first game as we move forward.”

He said the opening match will always be difficult.
“We knew the first game was always going to be the toughest, especially with the extra pressure from the hype.
“The boys worked hard and managed to get the win.”
Politini also praised his bench for making a strong impact.
“The impact players made a difference.
“We brought them on when we wanted to and they gave us the lift we needed. We were grateful to have a strong bench.”
Kadavu coach Solo Nute said he was pleased with his team’s performance despite the loss.
He thanked their supporters for always backing the team.
The former Suva prop said the side included former Fijian Drua captain John Stewart and Fiji men’s rugby 7s playmaker Terio Tamani, as they now turn their focus to the next match against Naitasiri
