Suva Grammar School’s Under-14 rugby team has booked their spot in the Vodafone Deans finals after a hard-fought victory over Marist Brothers High School this morning at Buckhurst Park.
They won, 10-8.
The Flagstaff boys will meet Queen Victoria School in the finals.
QVS defeated Lelean Memorial School, 17-13, in the second semi-finals at the HFC Bank Stadium.
In challenging weather conditions, the young Lions showed grit and composure beyond their years to edge out their long-time rivals in a tense semifinal clash.
Despite the rain-slicked turf and heavy skies overhead, the boys from Grammar held firm when it mattered most.
“It was a tough game,” Assistant Manager Eliki Qalobau said after the final whistle.
“But the boys dug deep. Their determination got them through today, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
The match saw both teams struggle for momentum early on, with handling errors and muddy conditions slowing play.
But Grammar’s discipline and tactical kicking gave them the edge in territory, and a second-half try sealed their path to next weekend’s final.
With their eyes now firmly on the Deans Final, Suva Grammar’s Under-14s are riding a wave of belief and they’ve already proven they have the heart to go all the way.
