Empowering Women in Business: Our Commitment on International Women's Day

On International Women's Day, we at Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) proudly celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women entrepreneurs across Fiji.

Every day, we witness firsthand the determination of women who are building businesses, creating employment, supporting families, and contributing meaningfully to national economic growth.

Business Assistance Fiji remains deeply grateful for the continued support of the Government of Fiji through the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development, and its partner, Business Link Pacific (BLP).

BLP acknowledges the enormous value of women's contributions to the local and regional economy.

"Especially, we congratulate women in business, who always give first," message from the BLP team, New Zealánd.

As the in-country partner for Business Link Pacific (BLP), BAF plays a central role in delivering practical business support to MS-MEs.

BLP, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), is a private sector development programme focused on improving access to quality business advisory services, financial solutions, and digital tools across the Pacific. Through this col-laboration, we are able to combine international development support

with a strong national commitment to private sector growth.

Breaking Barriers for Women Entrepreneurs

Women entrepreneurs often face unique challenges, including limited access to finance, gaps in formal business training, restricted professional networks, and the demands of balancing business responsibilities with family commitments.

At BAF, we intentionally design our services to address these barrers.

Our support includes:

  • Conducting business health checks to assess performance and identify growth opportunities
  • Providing financial literacy and bookkeeping assistance
  • Supporting business registration, compliance, and governance improvements
  • Facilitating access to loans through partner financial institutions
  • Connecting women to subsidised advisory services under the BLP programme
  • Delivering workshops, mentoring, and networking platforms Through these structured interventions, women-owned businesses are better equipped to formalise operations, improve financial management, and pursue expansion opportunities.

Impact Beyond Enterprise

When women succeed in business, the benefits extend beyond individual enterprises.

Women reinvest in families, education, and community wellbeing.

By empowering women-led MSMEs, we are directly contributing to inclusive economic growth and national development.

"This International Women's Day, we celebrate the inspiring women entrepreneurs across Fiji who are building businesses, supporting families, and strengthening our communities. Your resilience, innovation and determination are shaping the future of our nation. We are proud to stand with you and support your continued success.
