PM Rabuka names new ambassadors
Both of the appointees had applied for the position and went through the selection process.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has made two new ambassadorial appointments - Kemueli Naiqama for Fiji's embassy in Japan, and Ilaitia Tamata for Geneva.
Mr Tamata is a lawyer and a former senior military officer.
He takes over the position from Luke Daunivalu, who completed his term earlier this year after serving about four years as Fiji's ambassador to Geneva.

Mr Naiqama is the chief executive officer of the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
He was terminated as CEO by the former FijiFirst Government in 2021 for failing to comply with the Statistics Act 1961, a decision which drew a lot of criticism.
He was reinstated by the coalition Government in September 2023.
Both of the appointees had applied for the position and went through the selection process with the Public Service Commission in late July.
The PM has also appointed an ambassador to Indonesia to be based in Jakarta.
There have been about 10 appointments for high commissioner and ambassador positions by the Coalition Government.
