Teen questioned over death of 12-year-old in Wailoku

A 17-year-old boy is being questioned by Police in relation to the death of 12-year-old Lote Qima, whose body was found near Wairua Settlement, Wailoku, last week.

In a statement issued yesterday afternoon, Police confirmed the juvenile was being interviewed in the presence of a guardian.

The 29-year-old man who had earlier been taken in for questioning has since been released.

Police said investigations into the case remain ongoing.

Lote was last seen playing at a neighbour's home on Wednesday evening before he failed to return home. His mother later reported him missing, prompting a search.

His body was discovered near the family's home around midday two days later.
