Simione Rasova has resigned as general secretary of the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), with party leader Aseri Radrodro confirming the resignation.
Mr Rasova's resignation comes amid concerns over an upcoming court case and its implications for the party's preparations for the 2026 General Election.

"I can confirm Mr Rasova has tendered his resignation as GS to the party president of SODELPA citing his upcoming court case and its implications on the party preparations to the general election," Mr Radrodro said.
Mr Rasova confirmed he resigned last Friday but said his departure from the general secretary's position would not mean an end to his support for SODELPA.
"I resigned because I was not in a position to be a candidate," Mr Rasova said.
He will continue to support the party and aid its candidates as SODELPA prepares for the elec-tion.
The resignation comes less than a year after Mr Rasova was elected general secretary on September 6, 2025, during a management board meeting at the Tamavua Village Hall in Suva.
He had signed a two-year term with the responsibility of helping rebuild the party's structures ahead of the election.
