Flash flood warning remains for Viti Levu as TC Urmil tracks southeast

A flash flood warning remains in force for the whole of Viti Levu as Tropical Cyclone Urmil continues to influence the Fiji group.
In a special weather bulletin issued at 6am today, the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi said a flash flood alert also remains in force for the whole of Vanua Levu.
Tropical Cyclone Urmil, a Category 2 system, lies to the west-southwest of Kadavu and is tracking southeastwards.

Authorities warn of flash flooding and possible river flooding. Flooding is expected in drainage systems, small streams, low-water bridges, Irish crossings, roads and properties in low-lying areas.
High tide in Lautoka was 2.10 metres at 5.29am, with low tide expected at 11.25am at 0.63m.
In Suva, high tide was 1.87m at 5.37am, while low tide is forecast at 11.36am at 0.76m.
The advisory is based on the Fiji Flash Flood Guidance System, rainfall forecast models and weather radar data.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
