A flood warning is now in force for all low lying and flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Nakauvadra River in Rakiraki, Yaqara River in Naseani, and Nasivi River near Tavua, including the Tavua Town Bridge, as water levels continue to rise.

The warning follows persistent rainfall caused by a slow-moving trough of low pressure that remains over the Fiji group. The system is gradually moving south and is expected to clear the islands later on Saturday.

Authorities say the combination of rising river levels and high tides may increase the risk of flooding in vulnerable areas. Residents are advised to remain alert, avoid driving or walking through flooded streets, and follow official updates.

Tide information shows Lautoka with a high tide of 1.66 metres at 9:19pm and a low tide of 0.38 metres at 3:16pm, while Suva has a high tide of 1.51 metres at 10:03pm and a low tide of 0.43 metres at 3:59pm.

Officials warn that communities along the rivers may experience overflow onto streets and properties, and urge residents to take precautions, secure property, and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve. Near real time river level and rainfall data are being monitored for ongoing updates.
