Minor quake felt Near Labasa

No threats to Fiji

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake was felt approximately 66 kilometers from Labasa Town at 4am yesterday.

Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima, confirmed that the tremor did not pose an immediate threat, such as a tsunami, to Vanua Levu or the rest of Fiji.

“There are no reports of damage to property, livestock, or the environment,” Mr Rainima said, adding that businesses continued to operate as usual.

The Fiji Seismology Unit, a division of the Geological Services within the Mineral Resources Department, provides real-time earthquake updates through its social media platforms.
