Fijians are being urged to begin early preparations as Tropical Depression 11F develops north of the country and is expected to strengthen within the next 24 to 48 hours.
The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) has advised the public to stay informed through official updates from the Fiji Meteorological Service and the NDRMO.
It also called on households to review and update emergency plans, prepare emergency kits with essential supplies such as food, water, medication and important documents, and secure loose items around homes.
People heading out to sea have been urged to exercise caution and follow all marine advisories.
As of 6am today, Tropical Depression 11F was located north of Fiji and moving slowly, with winds of about 25 knots near its centre.
The system has shown increased organisation over the past 24 hours, with active thunderstorms mainly to the north and east.
It is expected to track south-southeast and may intensify further due to favourable conditions, including warm sea temperatures.
The NDRMO, in coordination with the Fiji Meteorological Service and relevant agencies, is monitoring the system closely and will issue updates as more information becomes available.
