Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School (MGM) will finalize their interhouse medal tally today.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, HOD PEMAC teacher Deve Koroi said the schools Interhouse meet had concluded, but additional events continue today for athletes who still needed to compete.
We have finished our inter-house competition, and we have the unofficial medal tally and at the moment we will be sticking with it, he said.
He added that one more event, the javelin throw, is yet to be completed.
Koroi said students enjoyed the Interhouse meet, and several new talents had already been identified.
He noted that athletes had prepared well before coming into the Interhouse competition.
As usual, they do their training. Some of them train on their own at home. We saw today that they have been showing their talent.
We really like the way they are enjoying the day, and we can see we have good talent as well, he said.
Koroi added that their main focus now shifts to the Suva Zone 1 competition, where MGM are the defending champions.
At the moment, well focus on the zone, and then after that, well move on from there until we go for the Coca-Cola Games, he said.
He added that the team would do their best and assess the results afterward before planning their next steps.
Preparations for the MGM athletes are already underway as they await the final outcomes.
The only message is that we are preparing the students for the time being and hope to get a good outcome out of it. I think that's the only message, he said.
