Former Suva football head coach Maxwell Thaggard (commonly known as Babs Khan) is betting on the Khelvin Civil Engineering Lautoka side to win the BiC Fiji FACT tournament at Subrail Park, Labasa, this weekend.

Lautoka faces IRA Group Navua in the second semifinal while Extra Supermarket Labasa takes on Roylux Realty Ba in the other semifinal.

“At the moment, Lautoka looks good because they’ve never lost a game,” Thaggard said.

“The squad from Lautoka have gelled well together from the begin ning of the season.”

He also added that players from Lautoka have solid chemistry on the field in terms of combinations and scoring abilities.

Thaggard highlighted all the teams have got strikers and they must focus on their defence.

“Christopher Wasasala (Labasa) is a player to watch out for. Sairusi Nalaubu is very dangerous for Ba as they got a lot of strike powers in the likes of Rusiate Doidoi and Faazil Ali. Ba has the most qualified coach in Fiji at the moment,” he said.

Thaggard was pleased with the performance of Lautoka striker Rusiate Matererega.

“The older the striker is, the better he gets. I’m happy for him, he’s playing well, scoring goals and finishing well while being sharp on the field.”

Tomorrow’s fixtures

  • 2pm Labasa v Ba
  • 4.30pm Lautoka v Navua.
