Elevating food safety standards, protecting public health and fostering prosperity is key for farmers and key players.
Andrew Tukana, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways further commented on the importance of food safety while officially opening the Food Training Workshop recently held in Suva.
“Let us embark on this journey with a shared commitment to elevating our food safety standards, protecting public health, and fostering prosperity among our farmers, and key players among the food supply chain,” Mr Tukana said.

The daylong workshop was designed to empower participants with knowledge, skills and tools to address the challenges faced by Fiji’s food industry, said Jiu Daunivalu, Fiji Crop and Livestock Council chief executive officer who organised the event with the Danish based Control Union.
“By raising the bar of food safety practices, this training aims to create a positive impact on public health and elevate the industry’s standing in both domestic and international markets,” Mrs Daunivalu said.
