Chamber Will Promote Lautoka As Tourism Hub In South Pacific
‘We need more international matches in the Sugar City’

Lautoka Chamber of Commerce president, Pyara Singh, says the chamber will work together with stakeholders to promote the Sugar City as a tourism hub in the South Pacific.
Mr Singh said Lautoka proved it could play hosts for the first Super Rugby Pacific match between the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and the Chiefs at Churchill Park last week and it was a success.
“The chamber wishes to work closely with all stakeholders to promote Lautoka City as the tourism hub in the South Pacific,” Mr Singh said.

“All spectators and teams have seen that we can continue to host more international sporting tournaments.”
He could not provide a figure as to how much revenue was raked into the economy, but was confident that all businesses in the city benefitted greatly from Lautoka hosting the rugby match.
“We need more international matches in the Sugar City,” he said.
The Lautoka Ratepayers Association president, ccccc, said never before was Lautoka buzzing and the hype in the city during the rugby match was amazing.
“This rugby game brought in the much needed income for our people,” Mr Narayan said.
“The businesses are really boosted from this because they made their money, individuals selling flags outside the park made their money, the shopkeepers made their money, those selling barbecue made their money and even the juice sellers.
“It was a successful tournament.”
