Dr Apisalome Movono appointed as TSLS chief executive

Dr. Apisalome Movono, the new Chief Executive Officer, for Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service.

The Board of Directors of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) has announced the appointment of Dr Apisalome Movono as its new chief executive officer.

The board said the appointment followed a rigorous and competitive recruitment process conducted in accordance with the provisions of the TSLS Act and principles of good governance.

Dr Movono brings extensive experience in education leadership, public sector reform and strategic policy development, with a strong background in tertiary education systems, organisational leadership and stakeholder engagement.

The board said his appointment is expected to further strengthen TSLS’s role in supporting equitable access to tertiary education and skills development for Fijians.

It said it looks forward to a new phase of growth for the organisation under Dr Movono’s leadership, with a shared aspiration to enhance TSLS’s impact, innovation and public trust.

Dr Movono holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Tourism Management from Griffith University in Australia, a Master of Arts in Tourism Studies, a Postgraduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in Marine Affairs and Tourism Studies.

In 2009, he was awarded the Gold Medal and Vice-Chancellor’s Award for the most outstanding all-round student, recognising combined academic performance and exceptional community service. He also received the Gold Medal for Outstanding Bachelor of Arts Student in Tourism Studies.
