Police probe Nausori school child abduction claim after Facebook post

Police are investigating claims of an alleged attempted child abduction at a Nausori school after a concerned mother’s Facebook post raised public concern.
The mother alleged in her social media post that an unknown man, whose photo she shared, attempted to pick up her daughter during lunch break without permission from the family or the child’s teacher.
However, Police confirmed that the man in the photo has since lodged a report disputing the allegation. He stated that he had visited the school to see his daughter.

The man reported the matter at Lami Police Station after family members informed him about the allegations following the Facebook post.
According to Police, the man said his reason for visiting the school was to see his daughter and not to abduct or unlawfully take a child as alleged.
Police said more people are expected to be questioned as investigations continue.
