A 37-year-old man is in police custody following the discovery of alleged illicit drugs during a joint operation in Lautoka.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said officers from the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, operating under the Joint Task Force, conducted a raid at the suspect's home on the afternoon of August 4, 2026.
During the operation, a police K9 unit was deployed to search the property. The search led to the seizure of plastic packets containing crystal-like substances and drug-smoking apparatuses.

ACP Vusonilawe said analysis of the seized substances had confirmed them to be methamphetamine. The suspect was taken into custody and remains under arrest as investigations continue.
He urged members of the public to assist law enforcement by reporting drug-related activities through the toll-free Crime Stoppers line, 1681.
