The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has launched an online candidate application portal, allowing aspiring politicians from across Fiji to apply digitally to represent the party in future elections.

Party leader and Education Minister Aseri Radrodro unveiled the new platform yesterday during the official launch of SODELPA’s revamped website at the party’s McGregor Road headquarters in Suva.

“The online candidate application portal enables aspiring leaders across Fiji to apply online to represent SODELPA in future elections,” Mr Radrodro said.

“This initiative promotes accessibility and fairness by opening the candidate selection process to all qualified Fijians, regardless of location or background.”

The new system aims to make the application process more convenient for potential candidates who previously had to submit applications in person or through traditional methods.

Mr Radrodro explained that applicants must meet constitutional and Electoral Act requirements, as well as party-specific criteria.

“The specific requirement is important to ensure that the party elects or nominates relevant and qualified applicants that possess relevant skill sets, sectoral knowledge and experience, innovative and of good character with the willingness to serve and deliver the people of Fiji,” he said.

The portal is part of the party’s broader digital transformation initiative, which includes the launch of www.sodelpa.org.fj

Other features on the new website include a news and events hub, party information and organisational structure, and strategic plans.

Features currently in development include membership registration, volunteer opportunities, and a payment gateway for donations and contributions to the party.

Mr Radrodro said the digital platform would complement the party's existing Facebook page managed by General Secretary Simione Rasova, providing members and supporters easier access to party information and policy announcements.

“There’s a lot of people out there that wish to give their support to SODELPA.

“This is one way for them to communicate with the party secretariat,” he said.
