A flood warning remains in force for all low-lying and flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of the Tuva River in Nadroga, and the Nawaka and Nadi rivers.

Authorities say the warning comes as Severe Tropical Cyclone Vaianu continues to influence weather conditions across the country, despite moving away from Fiji.

At 3am today, the Category 3 system was located about 260 kilometres southwest of Kadavu and 340km south-southwest of Nadi.

It is moving southeast at about 20km per hour and is expected to track further away.

A Government statement said that by 3pm, TC Vaianu is forecast to be about 410km south of Kadavu and 510km south of Suva.

Heavy rain associated with the system continues to affect parts of the country, increasing the risk of flooding as water from upper catchment areas flows into major rivers.

A flash flood warning remains in force for Viti Levu, while a flash flood alert is in place for the rest of Fiji. A heavy rain warning also remains in force for the entire Fiji group.

Communities in affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant, avoid crossing flooded rivers and roads, and stay updated with official advisories.
