Fiji Airways Fiji men’s sevens head coach Ben Gollings said the review of his performance conducted by the Fiji Rugby Union was fair.
Speaking to SUNsports during the Fiji Bitter Nahehevia Sevens in Sigatoka yesterday Gollings said the review has been open and honest.
“I’ve been transparent with them and they’ve been transparent with me,” the former England sevens rugby captain said.
“We know this; there’s always going to be pressure, but it’s about switching off to a lot of the noises on the outside and focusing ahead.
“Nobody knows what’s happening unless it’s on the inside and that’s for us.
There are challenges with the players who are also being constantly challenged.
“I’m being challenged in a good way because we know what we’ve got to go and do out there.”
The Fijians have not won the past 17 tournaments in the HSBC SVNS Series.

They are placed second on the series points table with 44 points behind leaders Argentina who has 58.
FRU interim Trustee chairman Peter Mazey said they are currently finalising the review.
“We’ll prepare a press release to give out once finished,” he said.
Mazey also clarified there is no issue with pay at the national men’s sevens camp.
He said Gollings and his players were paid according to the contracts they signed with FRU. “Gollings is paid through the Fiji National Sports Commission (FNSC) international coaching grant and they confirm he has been fully paid as per his contract,” he said.
“We have on Thursday and Friday held our meetings with the sevens men’s players and they confirm they have all been paid as per their contracts,” Mazey added.
