Twenty-two elderly residents from Valelevu Housing Assistance and Relief Trust (HART) were given free medical examinations at the Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre in Nasese on Tuesday.

Makelesi Salelelew, 70, who has been in the HART for more than five years, was grateful for the opportunity, especially for sickly people like her.

“I have a son and a sister. Sometimes my son would send me money to collect from the Post Office and my sister visits me and brings food and clothes,” Ms Salelelew said.

“However, it has been years since a family member visited me.

“I have been getting sickly these days. I suffer constant head and body aches. When the weather gets cold, I have pains with my knee. To still be alive and be given free medical clinics at this hospital is a blessing in disguise for me.”
