Host, Labasa snooker club aims to cause an upset and win back the Pak n Save sponsored inter-club championship title by defeating Nausori Club this Sunday.

Club secretary, Dalip Kumar, said they want to host the championship in a manner which would be remembered as one of the best in the 10-year tournament history.

He thanked the club sponsors, Crown Taxis and Labasa club sports for financial assistance.

They will contest in 13 encounters against Nausori club: six single, single double and one veteran contest.

The Babasiga based club last hoisted the title back in 2024 when they hosted the championship on home soil.

Kumar shared his optimism that they were prepared to bring the title back to their cabinet.

The championship will be contested tomorrow (Sunday) from 11am and until the late afternoon with club members and interested snooker enthusiasts urged to attend the competition.

Kumar said they respected the Nausori based club because of high caliber players in the squad where he termed them A-grade players.

"We don't have any A-grade players, but, we are confident of causing an upset against a champion club like Nausori because we have our own emerging talents".

Kumar said they had a mixture of experienced and youth snooker players who had the capability to shock Nausori club.

"We both aim to do a double against our opponents as Labasa will also take on Rewa in a football encounter this Saturday, so we want to make the people of Labasa proud," he said.

The youngest player in the Labasa club is Nickail Naicker who is a 23-year-old while the oldest player is Deo Narayan Lal, a veteran of the sport in his early 70s.

"We call for the home fans to support the side in our quest to wrestle the title away from Nausori when the last snooker frame is played," he added.
