Grammar respects Ra High, says official

Suva Grammar School (SGS) is ready to face Ra High School (RHS) in the Vodafone Super Deans Under-18 semi-final this weekend.

This was the comment of SGS team manageress Evia Turaganivalu following their 23-7 win over Ba Provincial Freebird Institute (Ba Pro) in the quarterfinal at Suva’s National Stadium last Saturday night.

Turaganivalu said they were pleased at the way they handled the challenge from Ba Pro.

“We thank the Lord for giving our boys the strength and power,” she said.

“This victory is for Him and we glorify Him. Without Him, we would not have been able to win.

“We thank Ba Pro for giving us a good game.”

Turaganivalu said the team was ready for the next challenge.

“We are ready and we respect any team that will be our next opponent in the semi-final,” she said.

“We will not take any team lightly and will treat every game as a final.”

However, Turaganivalu acknowledged that they still have areas to improve on before the semi-final.

“I’m sure the coaches will be looking at those areas. They will go back to the drawing board to rectify the mistakes from the quarterfinal. We will regroup and prepare for the next game,” she said.

Turaganivalu also acknowledged the team’s supporters for standing behind the team throughout the campaign.

The other semi-final sees competition favourites Lelean Memorial School (LMS) take on Nasinu Secondary School (NSS).

LMS proved too strong for Nadi’s Ratu Navula College with a 26-5 win in the quarterfinal while NSS upset Cuvu College 28-24 at Garvey Park in Tavua.

When approached LMS officials said they are not allowed to speak to the media.
