Father and son in custody after man dies following alleged assault
Police say a post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death.

A 38-year-old man has died following an alleged assault in Sigatoka, with a father and son now in police custody as investigations continue.
Police said the incident happened yesterday after the victim and two 16-year-old students were allegedly assaulted by the two suspects during a confrontation over one of the victim’s farm animals.
According to police, the victim was later found unconscious by his brother and had sustained injuries. The three victims were taken to Sigatoka Hospital for treatment.

The 38-year-old man was subsequently transferred to Nadi Hospital and later to Lautoka Hospital, where medical efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The two 16-year-old students also received medical treatment.
The father and son remain in custody at Sigatoka Police Station while investigations continue.
Police said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. No charges have been laid at this stage.
