Naduaono fulfils childhood dream, ready to serve as nurse
23-year-old overcomes financial challenges and peer pressure to earn her Bachelor of Nursing, aiming to serve others and pursue further studies.

For Mereoni Diwaqa Naduaono, 23, the Fiji National University (FNU) graduation was the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
The Delakado, Dawasamu, Tailevu native graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing after beginning her studies in 2023.
Her father is a farmer while her mother is a shopkeeper.

“I faced a lot of challenges, especially financial issues and peer pressure from friends,” she said. “I had to learn to balance everything so I could achieve my dream.”
Despite the challenges her determination to serve others kept her moving.
“I always dream of becoming a nurse so that I can serve people who are ill. I am so grateful today to finally receive my Bachelor’s degree.”
The celebrations come with new nerves, as she prepares for her Fiji Nursing Council Registration exam next Monday.
“I give all glory and honour to the Almighty,” she said.
Looking ahead, Ms Naduaono hopes to continue studying, with plans to pursue postgraduate studies in midwifery and eventually become a nurse practitioner.
She encouraged younger students not to let hardships stop them. “Keep pushing, no matter what you face in life, especially with family backings,” she said.
“Only God can make you through, with guidance and prayer.”
Ms Naduaono now steps into the nursing workforce with faith, courage, and a strong desire to serve.
