Opposition MP Kirpal, co-accused open to reconciliation in assault case

Opposition Member of Parliament Sanjay Kirpal and his co-accused, Anal Ram, have indicated their willingness to reconcile with the complainant in an assault case before the Suva Magistrate Court.
The two men are alleged to have assaulted the complainant at Kirpal's residence last Sunday.
When the matter was called this afternoon, the court granted bail to both accused, subject to conditions.

Police prosecutors have been directed to ascertain the complainant's position on reconciliation before the case returns to court.
The matter has been adjourned to August 28, when Kirpal and Ram are also expected to enter their pleas.
The court will hear the complainant's response regarding a possible reconciliation when proceedings resume later this month.
