408 marijuana plants and more than 300 packs of marijuana from the Eastern Division have been seized.

Four hundred and eight marijuana plants were uprooted in the Eastern Division last month and is the first two weeks of this month, says the Fiji Police Force.

Divisional Police Commissioner (DPC) Eastern, Josua Vodo thanked members of the public for providing tips that have helped them combat the cultivation of marijuana.

“408 marijuana plants and more than 300 packs of marijuana from the Eastern Division have been seized, and this is more compared to the same period last year,” Mr Vodo said.

“The taskforce continues to be deployed to the Eastern Division, thanks to all the tips we receive from community members and villagers.”

Mr Vodo said the Police would continue to work hard to eradicate the cultivation of marijuana.

“We are seizing drugs and conducting raids on homes. We have implemented a proactive programme in which our community policing teams visit villages to discuss the repercussions, especially for children,” he said.
