Fijians will pay more for fuel from tomorrow after the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) announced price increases across all fuel products, citing volatile international markets, higher freight costs and ongoing global geopolitical uncertainty.
The new prices take effect on June 1 and will see petrol rise by around 80 cents per litre and diesel by up to 77 cents per litre across most parts of the country.

On Viti Levu, within three kilometres of a public road, motor spirit will increase from $3.13 to $3.93 per litre, while diesel will rise from $3.82 to $4.58 per litre. Premix will increase from $2.98 to $3.27 per litre and kerosene from $2.99 to $3.13 per litre.
FCCC acknowledged the growing concern among households and businesses over the rising cost of fuel but said the increases were being driven by factors beyond Fiji’s control.
“The June 2026 adjustment reflects unprecedented volatility in international fuel markets over the past two months, driven by global forces beyond Fiji's control,” FCCC said.
The commission said it had attempted to cushion the impact on vulnerable households, maritime users and outer-island communities by limiting increases on products such as kerosene and premix.
“As can be seen in Schedule 1 for example, kerosene rises by only 14 cents and premix by 29 cents per litre, while petrol and diesel rise by around 80 cents,” FCCC said.
According to FCCC, fuel prices in Fiji have now reached their highest recorded levels due to sustained increases in international refined fuel prices, freight costs and exchange rate movements.
The increases come amid continuing uncertainty in global oil markets. FCCC said crude oil prices remained highly volatile throughout April due to Middle East supply concerns, shipping disruptions and fluctuating global inventories.
LPG users will also be hit with sharp increases from June 1. A 12kg cylinder on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu will rise from $37.58 to $46.60, while a 4.5kg cylinder will increase from $14.09 to $17.48.
FCCC said the increases were largely driven by a surge in international butane prices and higher freight rates.
Despite signs that some international indicators point to easing price pressures, FCCC warned that fuel markets remain highly sensitive to geopolitical developments and global economic conditions.
The commission said maintaining a continuous and sustainable fuel supply throughout Fiji remained a national priority.
