Tuvalu may be a small market, but when grouped with other Pacific Island, it plays an important role in forming the country's fifth biggest tourism market.
Fiji Airways' second weekly flight between Nadi and Funafuti, Tuvalu, will launch on August 22, 2025, providing more travel options for customers, and supports stronger links between Fiji and Tuvalu.
The new frequency in expanded travel makes it easier for families and businesses to stay connected and strengthened Fiji's role as the Pacific's aviation hub, managing director and chief executive officer, Andre Viljoen, said.
"The expansion reflects the airline's continued commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and its role as a bridge for the Pacific," he said.
The route service has opened up to include Fridays, to give customers greater travel flexibility for business, leisure, and onward international connections, the airline said in a press statement.
The route via Nadi is currently serviced on Mondays.
The additional service will be operated by the airline's ATR 72 aircraft. With the new Friday service, Fiji Airways will operate a total of five weekly flights Funafuti:-
- From Nadi: Monday and Friday
- From Suva: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
The service is also expected to benefit Tuvalu's economy and communities, improving access to healthcare, education, and trade opportunities, while making it easier for Tuvaluans to connect to Fiji Airways' extensive international network, the airline said.
The second weekly Nadi-Funafuti service is available for booking.
