10,000 back-to-school assistance applications still under verification
The Government encouraged parents to use the assistance strictly for education-related needs, including uniforms, stationery and school supplies.

About 10,000 applications for the $200 Back-to-School Assistance remain under verification due to incomplete or incorrect information, with parents and guardians advised to seek help if payments are not received by Monday next week.
The Government confirmed that payments began this afternoon (Friday) and will continue throughout the weekend, with the first batch expected to reach around 185,000 students nationwide.
A total of 204,872 applications were received for the 2026 school year, with the initial payout estimated at approximately $37 million.

Students in Year 12 and Year 13 will receive their assistance once their 2026 enrolments are confirmed, the Government said.
Parents who do not receive payment by Monday have been urged to visit their nearest Ministry of Education District Office or the Waisomo House Help Desk for assistance.
