Israel will open an embassy in Suva in 2026, three months after Fiji established its embassy in Jerusalem.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced the decision yesterday, saying he had informed Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sitiveni Rabuka during a phone call.
In a post on X, Sa’ar said the move would further strengthen relations between the two countries.

“Opening the new embassy will tighten the relations between the two countries and help cultivate our longstanding friendship and strengthen our cooperation in the fields of development, economic, security and more,” he said.
Sa’ar also praised Fiji’s consistent support for Israel at the United Nations, saying the embassy would enhance Israel’s diplomatic presence across the Pacific.
“Israel’s embassy in Fiji will strengthen Israel’s presence in the entire Pacific region, which is friendly to Israel, and will deepen our ties with other Pacific island nations,” he said.
Sa’ar said he met Rabuka in September during the Prime Minister’s visit to Jerusalem to officially open Fiji’s embassy there.
During their latest conversation, Sa’ar said Rabuka again reaffirmed Fiji’s support for Israel.
