Police Constable Emosi Diani Caqeua almost missed his chance to join the Fiji Police Force.

The Vunaniu, Serua native, was not on the first list of successful recruits. For him, it felt like the end of a dream.

Months later, a single phone call changed everything. Police asked if he was still interested in joining the Force.

“I agreed and came back for another verification. The journey continued from there,” he said.

Today, PC Caqeua stands at the top of Batch 68, named Dux and recipient of the prestigious Commissioner’s Book Prize after completing the gruelling 16-week training programme at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova.

Before joining the Force, PC Caqeua worked at a manufacturing company in Nadi.

He applied online when he saw the recruitment advertisement and hoped for success.

The training was tough, both physically and mentally. But every challenge strengthened his discipline and resolve.

“At times, the challenges were big, but the support from my comrades pushed me through day by day,” he said.

PC Caqeua dedicated his success to God, his parents and his fellow recruits.

“Firstly, I thank God Almighty for giving me strength and guiding me through this journey,” he said.

“Secondly, I thank my parents for their support, and also my comrades for their courage and encouragement throughout the course.”

PC Caqeua was among 149 recruits, including 10 from Tuvalu, who graduated in Batch 68, marking the start of his service to the nation, a journey shaped by perseverance, faith and teamwork.
