Members of the public travelling to maritime islands have been advised to take necessary precautions and to avoid placing pressure on MSAF officers or operators once capacity limits are reached.

The Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau has stressed that the safety of life at sea remains a top priority, especially during the festive and holiday season.
In a statement, Ro Filipe said the period traditionally sees a sharp increase in inter-island travel, passenger movement and maritime activity, making safety measures even more critical.
He has directed the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) to step up enforcement and monitoring during this peak period to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations.
