A man accused of abducting and assaulting the son of a military officer will file an alibi notice as his case progresses in the Suva Magistrate Court.

Laisiasa Bavai appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne today charged with one count of abduction with intent to subject a person to grievous harm and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The charges relate to an incident alleged to have occurred on May 2 this year involving the son of a military officer.

During proceedings, defence counsel informed the court that Bavai's alibi notice had been prepared and would be filed before the close of business today.

Magistrate Somaratne ordered the prosecution to serve full disclosures by July 27.

Bavai remains on bail.
