Datec (Fiji) Pte Limited has officially launched the Fiji Tech Summit 2026, marking its fifth consecutive year as the country’s premier platform for technology dialogue, collaboration and digital resilience.
The launch, held at Datec’s Head Office in Garden City, set the tone for what organisers describe as a critical year for the region’s digital future.
The 2026 theme “Bringing the Pacific Together” signals a stronger regional focus as nations navigate rapid technological change.

Speaking at the launch, Head of technology and Innovation and Summit Lead Ronald Sharma said the milestone comes at a defining moment.
“As Fiji Tech Summit enters its fifth year, our focus is on building collective digital resilience across the Pacific.
While artificial intelligence is accelerating innovation and opportunity, it is also placing significant pressure on global technology supply, infrastructure capacity, and skills availability,” Mr Sharma said.
“Alongside cybersecurity threats and emerging technologies such as robotics, responsible AI adoption is no longer an isolated issue it is a regional priority that requires shared understanding, careful planning, and collaboration.”
He emphasised that the global acceleration of AI is reshaping demand for advanced infrastructure, cloud services and specialised hardware. Pacific markets, he said, are already feeling the strain through longer lead times and rising costs.
This year’s summit will place strong emphasis on cyber security as both a resilience and leadership issue.
With AI-enabled threats and increasing digital complexity, organisations are being urged to look beyond technical controls and strengthen governance, processes and workforce preparedness.
The Summit will also explore responsible AI adoption, focusing on ethics, data protection and workforce readiness. Robotics and automation will feature prominently.
“AI and automation are not here to replace people, but to enhance productivity, support human capability, and help bridge resource gaps, particularly in countries like Fiji,” Mr Sharma said.
