Driver’s home destroyed in fire

Shanil Sharma, 32, of Korovuto, Nadi, is homeless after a fire destroyed his four-bedroom house on Monday morning.
The Zen Medical ambulance driver was about to finish his night shift when he received a call that his home was on fire.
He laments the loss of his house along with the loss of his elder brother who passed away a few months ago.

“We had my brother’s Puja here at home a few days ago.
“Before he died, he was renovating the house and built an extension for two flats at the back to be rented.
The flats were destroyed in the fire with our house,” Mr Sharma said.
He is now temporarily living with his sister-in-law, her two children and his mother.
“I must rebuild the house because my late dad and brother made sacrifices in building it.”
The fire is alleged to have started from the bedroom.
Police and the National Fire Authority personnel are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
