Fiji and the United Nations have formalised a three-year development partnership focused climate resilience, health, education, economic growth and good governance.
Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development Esrom Immanuel signed the UN–Fiji Country Implementation Plan (CIP) 2025–2027 with United Nations Resident Coordinator Dirk Wagener at Ro Lalabalavu House in Suva yesterday.
The plan, approved by Cabinet in February, outlines how the UN system will coordinate support for Fiji’s national development priorities over the next three years.

Mr Immanuel said the CIP was a practical tool, not just a policy document, designed to ensure funds were used wisely and results were measurable.
“By aligning planning, monitoring and reporting systems between Government and the United Nations, we are reinforcing accountability and ensuring that resources are used efficiently and strategically,” he said.
The plan is anchored in Fiji’s National Development Plan 2025–2029 and Vision 2050. It also includes a joint steering committee involving Government, civil society, the private sector and academia to oversee implementation.
Mr Wagener said the plan was shaped through an inclusive consultation process, including two national workshops earlier this year, and committed the UN to a “leave no one behind” approach.
“Particular attention will be given to inclusion, gender equality, human rights and the protection of the most vulnerable,” he said.
He added that both sides would hold annual reviews to ensure the plan remained responsive to Fiji’s changing needs.
The CIP covers areas directly affecting Fijians’ daily lives, including access to health and education services, economic opportunities and disaster preparedness.
