The Government has activated work-from-home arrangements across the public service as heavy rain, strong winds and flooding threats continue to affect the country.

In a public advisory, the Ministry of Civil Service said Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies had been directed to activate business continuity plans for today in response to the deteriorating weather conditions.

The directive follows consultations with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and comes as a Heavy Rain Warning and Strong Wind Warning remain in force nationwide.

"Work from home arrangements are to be activated."

The ministry said essential government services must remain operational, while non-essential staff should work remotely where possible.

Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies have also been given the authority to implement localised office closures, scale down operations or adjust reporting arrangements where access to workplaces is unsafe.

"Staff should not be required to travel through flooded roads, unsafe crossings, coastal inundation areas, landslide-prone areas, or debris-affected routes."

The ministry said work-from-home arrangements should also be extended to parents and guardians affected by the nationwide closure of schools.

"This advice is issued in light of the current weather conditions, including the Heavy Rain Warning and Strong Wind Warning in force for the whole country."

Government said it would continue monitoring the situation and provide further updates as conditions evolve.
